Hair They Are: Two New England Winners Chosen for National ''Make Hair Loss History'' Contest

Dr. Robert Leonard to restore hairlines and confidence with free hair restoration treatment.

Dr. Robert Leonard, New England's leading hair restoration surgeon, announces today the winners of his National Hair Loss Awareness "Make Hair Loss History" contest -- Domenic Schiavone and Maria DeCristofaro, both residents of Rhode Island. As the grand prize, each winner will receive free hair restoration treatment from Dr. Leonard, customized to suit their individual hair loss needs.

Winners of the national contest were chosen based on the most inspiring hair loss story entries and their medical qualifications for receiving hair restoration treatment. One man and one woman were chosen.

"I was so surprised when I found out -- I had no idea my wife nominated me," recalls Schiavone, who has been suffering from hair loss since he was in his late 20's. "I'm only 35, but I feel older (because of my receding hair line). I'm very excited that I'm now able to do something about it."

Dr. Leonard will start Schiavone's treatment off with hair restoration surgery in November 2005, a nearly painless surgical procedure that permanently restores growing hair to areas that are thinning or bald.

"I'm so excited about winning," says DeCristofaro, 47, who wrote in, "My hair is so fine, it has stopped me from enjoying life...If I had (more) hair, I would live my life with a more positive attitude."

Dr. Leonard describes DeCristofaro as a "perfect candidate" for his non-surgical Luce LDS 100® infrared light therapy, which combined with Rogaine®, will stimulate re-growth on DeCristofaro's scalp. Schiavone will supplement his surgery with Luce LDS 100® and Propecia®.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), hereditary hair loss is more than a cosmetic issue - it's a medical condition that affects more than 80 million American men and women.

"I'm thrilled to have chosen these winners and to give them a chance to restore their hair and self-confidence," says Dr. Leonard, founder and chief surgeon of Leonard Hair Transplant Associates (LHTA). "My hope is that this campaign helps encourage more people to finally do something about their hair loss."
