Prince Harry is going bald just like his brother, says leading hair loss expert

A leading surgeon and hair loss expert has suggested that Prince Harry is losing his hair, and following in the footsteps of the older male Royals.

Prince Harry hair loss

After seeing pictures of the 28-year-old during a recent charity trip to Africa, Dr Asim Shahmalak has claimed that the redhead is showing signs of thinning around his crown.

According to the expert, Harry is heading towards the same hairstyle as his older brother Prince William - who started going bald in his early twenties.

"It is clear that Harry is thinning around the crown area," Dr Shahmalak explained. "It is the first signs of the male pattern baldness which has affected both his brother and his father.

"Around a quarter of men start going bald before the age of 30, so this is hardly a big surprise especially when it runs in the family as it does for the Windsors.

"If Harry's hair loss progresses in the normal way, I would expect him to have a significant bald patch around his crown by the time he is 40. It will be worse if it also spreads to his hairline as it has with his brother."

He goes on to state that hair loss can have a devastating effect on young men, and that if Harry were to have a hair transplant, he could lead the way for other males to do so.

“The only long-term solution is a hair transplant - where hair is moved from the back or sides of the scalp to bald areas such as the crown,” Dr Shahmalak said.

“The stigma around seeking treatment has been removed. It would send out a great signal to other men if a royal would also seek treatment.”

While many men disguise their baldness by shaving their head, Dr Shahmalak doesn't think that a crew cut would be an option for a Royal.

"The other solution would be for Harry to use Minoxidil, the only other clinically proven hair loss medication available. You can buy a mousse which you apply to the thinning areas of the scalp," he added.

Harry, who was recently voted the World's Most Eligible Bachelor in a magazine poll, has been known to poke fun at his older silbling about his hair loss, but now it seems he may be eating his words.
