International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery Hosts 14th Annual Scientific Meeting

Drawing more than 400 physicians from around the world dedicated to advancing the art and science of hair restoration, the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery's (ISHRS) annual scientific meeting will be held October 18-22 at the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego.

The conference offers an unrivaled educational line-up of workshops and courses in diagnosing, treating and preventing future hair loss -- from the latest research in identifying genes responsible for hair loss and the gold standard in hair transplantation techniques for male pattern baldness to using body hair to augment coverage and improve the cosmetic appearance of scars.

"Physicians of all levels of experience will benefit from this exceptional CME educational program that includes hands-on skills training, expert faculty, and the opportunity to observe our live surgery workshop," said Paul T. Rose, MD, JD, president of the ISHRS. "As patient demand for hair restoration procedures continue to increase, the ISHRS will continue to offer our members access to the latest information and cutting-edge techniques to help them deliver the results patients want that are natural-looking, permanent and virtually undetectable."

A sampling of the hot topics to be presented at the ISHRS Annual Meeting include:

-- A New Device for Measuring Fluctuations in the Density and Diameter of Hair -- Unique Differences in Transplanting Female Hair Loss -- Eyelash Replacement Using Overlapping Coronal Slits -- Current Statistics of Cell Therapy Research -- Hair Cosmeceuticals -- The Invisible Scar - A Prospective Randomized, Double-Blind Study of 100 Patients -- Autologous Growth Factors in Hair Restoration Surgery

Two of this year's featured guest speakers will make presentations during the meeting's Opening Session on Thursday, October 19, at 8:45 a.m. They include:

Norwood Lecturer - Maria Siemionow, MD, PhD, DSc, "Composite Total Face and Scalp Allograft Transplantation and The Impact of Ischemia Reperfusion Injury in Free Tissue Transfers."
