Mens Health today releases its 3rd annual Grooming Awards"
Mens Health today releases its 3rd annual“Grooming Awards” featured in the magazine’s May issue. The yearly
edit package serves as an expert guide to solving men’s
most common grooming issues while naming the top products in the men’s
grooming market. The issue is on newsstands today.
The 2007 Awards were chosen by a panel of experts that included some of the most notable barbers in the United States: Niall Costello, Owner of Esquires of Wall Street Barbershop, Abdul Karim Shakir, Owner of Hyde Park Hair Salon in Chicago (where Barack Obama gets his trims), Russell Hiatt, 60-year barber based in North Carolina, and Jake Gravbrot, hairstylist for musicians Fall Out Boy and YellowCard, as well as editors from Men’s Health magazine.
Awards categories included Hair, Fragrance, Face, Body and Shaving with best-in-class winners and runner-up products named for each.
“Everything we do at Men’s Health is to help men live well and feel good about themselves,” says Men’s Health Fashion and Grooming Director, Brian Boye. “The ‘Grooming Awards’ issue has become a highly anticipated guide for our readers--the advice is instantly applicable so they can get out the door and feel confident without missing a beat.”
The magazine also teamed up with Walgreen’s to promote this year’s winners on a national level the partnership marks the first-ever men’s magazine retail promotion, entitled“Get Your Groom On” that will run in over 5,500 Walgreens locations nationwide.
The first 1,500 consumers to purchase two or more featured grooming brands will receive a shaving kit filled with advertiser samples.
The partnership is a testament to the explosive growth in the mens grooming market which is now reported to be a $5 billion dollar a year industry, with men responsible for a third of all beauty products used in the U.S (according to MMR, November 2006).
