For the last eight years the scholarships have been awarded to deserving students in remembrance of Pedro Baez, former co-owner of the Hair Club® center in Puerto Rico.

“This year’s Pedro Baez Scholarship Fund recipients are truly bright and hardworking young adults from across the United States and we wish them continued success,” states Michele Chappell, Hair Club® Vice President of Human Resources. “Hair Club® values its employees and their families, so we are glad to be able to play a positive role in their future education.”

Pedro Baez was a dedicated and valued member of the Hair Club® family, as well as a loving husband and father. A co-owner of the Puerto Rico Hair Club® center, Baez attended college on an athletic scholarship and remained active in several sports until his untimely death at the age of 30 from heart disease.

The Pedro Baez Scholarship Fund was established in 2004 in his honor to support promising young students in their academic pursuits.

Awarded to children of Hair Club® corporate and franchise employees, the scholarship is open to matriculating students of two- or four-year colleges who have a minimum 2.5 GPA and demonstrated a commitment to extracurricular activities and volunteerism. Applicants must also submit a 500-word essay detailing why they feel they are deserving of the scholarship.
